Publications

The Publications of the Archaeological Receipts and Expropriations Fund The Directorate of Publications of the Archaeological Receipts and Expropriations Fund is responsible for the publication of archaeological journals and archaeological editions of any kind. It possesses a wealth of material that relates to the practice of archaeology, which is made available to individuals, organizations, libraries, foundations, etc. interested in and associated with culture. The Archaeological Bulletin (Αρχαιολογικό Δελτίο), which is published periodically with at least one edition per year since 1885 (with the exception of certain years or time periods before and after World War II), holds a central position amongst the publications of the Archaeological Receipts and Expropriations Fund. The Archaeological Bulletin is composed of two parts: Part A comprises the ‘Studies’ (Μελέτες), a periodical edition issued on an annual basis that contains articles of archaeological interest of great scientific value, and Part B, the ‘Chronicles’ (Χρονικά). The Chronicles of the Archaeological Bulletin focus on projects associated with excavation, museum, restoration and consolidation work, recording of antiquities, nominations and proclamations of monuments and generally work conducted by the Ephorates of Antiquities and the regional Services under the jurisdiction of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Cultural Heritage of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports. Aside from the Archaeological Bulletin the Archaeological Receipts and Expropriations Fund publishes the periodical Athens Annals of Archaeology (Αρχαιολογικά Ανάλεκτα εξ Αθηνών) since 1968, which features short scientific papers that do not appertain to the standards of the Studies of the Archaeological Bulletin, and the journal The Museum (Το Μουσείον) since 2000, which contains scientific articles concerning archaeological finds safeguarded or exhibited at the National Archaeological Museum and also information on the activities of the Museum. Finally, the Archaeological Receipts and Expropriations Fund publishes monographs, proceedings of archaeological conferences, honorary volumes and also popularized publications, guides and information leaflets introducing archaeological sites, monuments and museums.
